Andhra Pradesh Minister Lokesh has emphasized the urgent need for higher education institutions to strengthen their connections with industry. He urged Vice-Chancellors to spearhead reforms aimed at closing the gap between academic learning and real-world application.
The call for change comes as the state’s higher education system faces scrutiny, with only one Andhra Pradesh university currently ranking within the top 50 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). The Governor of Andhra Pradesh echoed this concern, stressing the need for immediate action to improve the quality and standing of state universities.
These discussions are taking place against the backdrop of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which is driving significant shifts in the higher education landscape. Minister Lokesh’s push for industry collaboration is seen as a key component in successfully implementing the NEP and ensuring graduates are equipped with the skills demanded by the modern workforce.
